CBCP Urge the Father Of Bulacan Massacre Victims To Forgive And Forget the Incident
The Catholic Bishop Conference (CBCP) chairman Archbishop Socrates Villegas on Thursday has published a pastoral letter asking Filipinos and surviving family member of Bulacan massacre victims, to forgive the suspect and forget the heinous crime.
In a letter circulated to Catholic parishes, Villegas said that there might be a valid reason why the suspect, construction worker Carmelito Navarro Ibañez, did such unthinkable thing.
Villegas also ask the husband and surviving family of the five victims, security guard Dexter Carlos, to “forgive the suspects and forget the sad moment”.
“God has his own reason why he allowed Ibañez and his company to take the lives of the victims. God has also reason why he make Mr. Carlos suffer. Only God knows his own reason. The only thing we can do is to forgive and forget. Hurting Mr. Ibañez is another sin”, Villegas said.
On Thursday, police has arrested Ibañez, one of the suspects who admitted to kill two of five victims.
Villegas also ask people not to judge the suspect, and ask authorities to provide the “innocent Ibañez” chance to defend himself.
Mr. Ibañez should be given chance to defend himself. Death penalty is not a solution. We cannot afford to lose another innocent soul”, Villegas said.
